Hi
Can anyone tell me wich is the better processer: AMD Opteron 165 (E6 version) or Athlon 64 Fx-57 (E4 version)
I am getting a geforce 8800 gts and am not sure if the Athlon 64 3800 is good enough to run along side this card.
Thanks!

The FX-57 is better than the Opteron 165.
However, for most games the Athlon 3800 will be fine.
Personally, I'd say if you want an upgrade, go for a new board instead, based on Socket AM2 or 775, for the newer AMD or Core 2 processors respectively.
Socket 939 has a limited lifespan now, and you won't get a better CPU than the FX-57 so I wouldn't recommend spending too much on it.

Get a better cpu. I overclocked my 3800+ to 2.4Ghz and it sufficed and with a 8800GTX ran Counter Strike Source at about 140FPS but still I like having more power.
