I'm using windows vista and it says it can't check for updates. When I try to do it manually it says to check for updates you must first install an update for windows update. When I click on install now it gives me errors found code 80070002. How do I get the updates to install

Other than the error code...what is the exact messsage (verbatim, which means "word-for-word") you are receiving when you try to download and install this update?

Is this Vista a RC or a retail version that came on the machine ? ?

I Googled that error and found this:

Apparently a lot of people have this problem. On that site there are a few links that might help.

I googled as well and found several fixes...that's why I was hoping the poster could be a little more specific with the error code.

Is this the same update I, and others had a problem with a while ago on this forum? I thought microsoft removed it.
