Title: cd and floppy drives don't read

 ???
Recently a friend of mine (who is currently hard to get a hold of) re-formatted my computer and now I can't get my CD drive or my floppy to read anything.  I've gone through a tiny bit of trouble-shooting that my computer walked me through and checked for more updated drivers.  What else can I do?

Can it no longer read the media you insert or can you no longer access the drives?

What OS have you got installed?

Does the cd-drives need a  clean?....
