Hi, I was wondeing if anyone may be able to help with this. My laptop normally finds and connets to wireless networks without a problem. However, at my home my laptop is failing to aquire an IP address. I have tried turning the firewall off and it makes no difference. I have tried repairing it but it doesn't work. I don't think there is a prolem with the wireless because another laptop is connecting to the network. If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this then let me know! Thanks!

What do you have installed, as far as a firewall goes?
-
I have windows firewall. It seemed fine with other wireless networks!
-
When did this start?
Did you make any recent changes or additions to the wireless network?
Have you ran the Wireless Network Toubleshooter?
-
Your laptop detects the wireless network?
-
How do I run the troubleshoot thing? I have tried the "repair" feature.
Yeah, it is detecting the newtork and tries to connect and then says auiring network address and doesn't ever connect. As far as I'm aware nothing has changed with the wireless!

What firewall is installed on the computer hooked to the wireless router?
-
It is McAfee

Leave the computer running and reboot the router. Disconnect the router power for about 10 seconds, then reconnect. Wait about 30 seconds and see if it acquired an IP.

If it doesn't acquire the IP...then follow this link: Windows XP (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q313242)
