Post by: Nuriko on October 06, 2007, 10:21:35 AM
Hello,

I have LG LS55 Express laptop and my driver can read CD/DVD-R but whenever I insert a DVD-R it says "please insert disc into driver".....so I guessed it needed an update so I went to the official LG website to check the drivers they had but didn't know which one to get!!!
please help,do I need an update?

PS: I have "LG intelligent update" CD but it doesn't work when I insert it!! (it should be working, I know nothing bad happend to it)....

Go Start>Control Panel, then double click on Device Manager icon. See, if your DVD drive is listed there.

Well, if it's DVD-R (reader) only, it won't write.
It has to be DVD-RW.

I'm confused....Yesterday things worked, today they don't? Or you are trying something different?
You are trying to burn CD, or DVD?
You have to make sure, your disk, and your burner are compatible.
For instance, if your burner is DVD+RW, you have to have DVD+R disks.
If your burner is DVD-RW, you have to have DVD-R disks.
What burning program are you using?

No I'm still trying the same things...

trying to save some video files (copy them to disks because my laptop is full) into DVD's because they have bigger capacity (8gb), so I'm not trying to burn them, just saving them to DVDs so I could have more space, I don't have any program.

my burner is DVD+/DVD-R and I have (DVD+R) disk

the salesman said "this burner can READ and WRITE dvds".

>_< I hope you won't say your driver can't write noooo.

This is exactly what I'm gonna say ??? ??? ???

because they have bigger capacity (8gb)
Actually 8.5 GB - those are DVD+R DL(double layer) disks.
You can read them in regular DVD drives/players, but to record them, you need DVD writer (DVD+R DL), which supports those disks, and a software, which supports writing to DVD+R DL disks.
Does your new DVD recorder support DL disks?
You can give me its model, and model number, and I'll try to find out.

Does your new DVD recorder support DL disks?

YES, ;D the box exatly says "DVD+R/DVD-R DL external burner"

it's (imation DVD+R/DVD-R DL external burner 12xDVD-RAM)

Do you recommend any good softwares I can use* just to save my videos not burn them*?

Your best bet would be Nero: http://www.nero.com/eng/index.html (http://www.nero.com/eng/index.html)
It supports DL disks writing.
