I cannot get my screen to do more than 16 colors. Have tried to install a driver from Intel a few times.
When I go to Display/Settings/Advanced, there is no tab for Monitor and when I click on Intel Extreme Graphics in Control Panel, nothing happens.
1.8 Mhz Celeron win98

have you tried contacting their support desk?
-
Go Start>Settings>Control Panel>Control Panel
Double click on "System"
Click on Device Manager tab.
See, if Monitor is listed there.
It'll have a "+" sign next to it.
Click on it, and tell us what it says.
Does Monitor have any exclamation/question mark next to it?
-
Install the driver win9x135.exe from---->Here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/azvigr)

Display/Advanced brings up [Unknown Device} Properties.

I think this is what you're looking for. (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download.aspx?url=/7005/a08/win9x1361.exe&agr=N&ProductID=865&DwnldId=7005&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All+Operating+Systems&lang=eng)
-
Ran win9x1361.exe
looks good. then when Windows restarts, it says graphics not right.
Still only 16 colors.
-
In Device Manager do you have "Other devices" entry?
-
In Device Manager, I do not see an Other devices entry.
Yellow circle exclamation point next to Intel 82845G/GL/etc Graphics Controller.
-
Then you have to download a new driver from a link provided by Calum:
Link Edit. (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download.aspx?url=/7005/a08/win9x1361.exe&agr=N&ProductID=865&DwnldId=7005&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All+Operating+Systems&lang=eng)
-
downloaded that.
after Windows restarted, still same problem. I get a popup that says there is a problem with graphics and prompts me to start Add New Hardware part of Control Panel.
-
In that case, it looks to me, that your on-board graphic chip is damaged.
You may need to get video card (not that expensive).
