Does any1 know a good tool software for downloading mp3?
-
Erm, your browser? Right click on a link, "Save Target As..." ?
-
You are aware that downloading music is illegal right? :o

Not ALL music... ;)
Ste, we're not allowed to help you with illegal actitives. If you want to legally download music, what is it you're looking for? Classical music is often copyright free (due to the authors being dead for a few hundred years).
-
It's legal in Canada!
-
*moves to Canada*
-
There are also two other exceptions.
For instance, there are numerous sites on the web where unsigned artists will put up some of their singles in the hope that a record company executive will stumble upon them. I believe mp3.com (http://www.mp3.com), although originally designed as a site to dirstibute mp3's illegally, is now a legitimate site for such activity
You also get bands releasing promo's on their own sites. I recently downloaded "Liquid" by Fluke from their official site (http://www.flukenet.info) after signing up to the mailing list. I think Goldfrapp also have videos to download from their site.

You're really RISKING it, but Kazaa was a good program... Be careful......

-
Kazaa had more spyware than you could shake a stick at.
-
I dunno, I can shake a pretty big stick. Kazaa is a tool of the devil however. At least use Kazaa Lite if you insist on a Kazaa flavour.
-
lol. That's true! ;D ;D ;D Better use a pretty long stick :o lol! ;D ;D ;D
[glb]Flame[/glb]
-
A heavy stick too. Most of those Kazaa *features* are pretty resiliant.
-
Yet again true. Probably another reason why downloading music is illegal. lol Spyware is just THAT dangerous...

Hmm I detect faulty logic. Wouldn't that make sex illegal as AIDS is so dangerous?
On a side note.. I think it's legal anywhere in the world to download an MP3 if you already own the song. You are allowed under copyright to make copies for backups. Just need to be able to prove you have an original. Having said that.. I haven't purchased a CD in years and, oddly enough, I have lots of current music as well as over 250 movies on my system.
Out of 320G I think I have about 20 free.
-
You notice I said to computers right......

My logic is... if I couldn't get it for free, I probably wouldn't get it anyway, so by downloading it the company isn't actually missing out on my money, is it?
Besides, I believe we should get rid of money altogether and try something other than capitalism for a change...
-
Hmm having read your posts (in this thread) I do NOT notice that you mention to computers.
-
??? me?
-
Nope.. flame from last post page 1.

Applying the same logic, you could say that I could walk into a shop, take a copy of Half Life 2 off the shelf and walk out without paying. It's okay because hey, the company isn't missing out on my money...
The point is that it does actually cost money to put these things together. Is it not right that the company in question should get paid for what they have created?
And don't even try the "but it doesn't cost all that much to make a CD, so why do they charge so much?" routine with me because it's ain't gonna work, sonny. You would be very surprised how the money is actually dirstributed...
-
Well... um... I don't do it much anyway. Most of the things I download have been old games for things such as the Amiga. It's not like anyone's going to pay money for it (or even be able to buy it if they wanted to).
-
Well since we've gotten into a bit of a debate, here's my $0.02. I'll buy something if it's good (and I mean really good) so my downloading, which I do alot, is a form of protest to inform those who make decisions that they shouldn't bother putting out crap. This is especially true for movies. It's gotta be a really good movie for me to pay for it.
-
Well, It's true. Think about it people.
Message to Joleen: Spyware is not necessarily dangerous to people.... It's more dangerous to computers, which is what I meant earlier....

Spyware is definately dangerous to people (moreso than to computers) as often is is the personal information the culprit is after. However, I'm just busting your balls a bit now that Raptor has left me.
-
My compliments to your ball busting then. lol

I don't like this debate because I keep losing.
-
hey try www.limewire.com it is a free mp3 software if you get the basic one but yes it's illigal to download but I got a software program that I use so when I'm downloading music I can't get detected anyway limewire I used to have for windows 98 but now I just got linux more complicated now but if you use limewire becarful and yes limewire is for linux...
-
anything that connects to gnutella is good, limewire bearshare, morpheus, all the same network, all the same files, just depends on which you want to download.
-
Limewire is better than Kazza. You can get the spyware free version also....fast downloading...faster than kazza!
-
Anything is better than Kazaa. Kazaa has more viruses than a Chinese chicken coop.
-
Not to mention how slow it is, for really NO reason...

Yep, Ares would be my suggestion too. That or I2Hub, which is a program for use mainly on college campuses, but you can use it anywhere w/ a one-time donation. It gets AMAZING u/l and d/l speeds.
