Title: cmos setup utility after installing new power supply?
Post by: userfriendly on October 24, 2007, 03:44:39 PM
Now that I have installed a new power supply, my screen is at "CMOS SETUP UTILITY".  How do I get back to windows?  I'm running Windows ME on a desktop that was custom built.

In the setup utility, choose "Load Setup Defaults".
Does it work now?

And do you get any error messages, such as "CMOS Settings Wrong" ??

Do I need to set the time and date first?

Thanks

Yes. Don't have to, but I recommend it.

Hi again...  well I went to set the time and date and it was already right.  So I hit
"enter" and now it says at the bottom of a black screen "Boot for CD.  Disk boot failure.  Insert system disk and press enter."

I don't remember getting any CD's with this computer.  Everything was installed prior to my receiving it.

Thanks for your help.

Is the hard drive the first in the boot order?
Who is the manufacturer of the CMOS?

I don't know on either question.

It just says "BOOT FROM CD : BOOT FROM CD : DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"
