I've been slowly building a new desktop, now its complete and i turn it on the monitor doesn't get a signal. here are the specs:
MSI K9ND Speedster
2 AMD Operton 64 duelcore 2214
4GB DDR2 667 ( 2GB for each processor)
PNY Geforce 8600 GT 256MB
nForce Professional 3600 MCP
HP w17e 17" widescreen
i don't believe it to be a faulty mobo or video card, as far as i can tell its going through POST or atl east the keyboard leds light up on start uplike they would in POST. and i also tried a PNY Geforce 8800 card and got the same result. the 8800 needed extra power from PS, the 8600 does not. also the montor works perfectly fine as a secondary screen for my laptop.
please let me know if you have any thoughts.

Have you tried another monitor on that machine?
-
You listed everything except the power suply make, model, wattage and age. ;)
-
Have you tried using only one processor and one stick of RAM?

ok well the PS is a CoolerMaster 750 Watt brand new. i tried a dif monitor but still got same result. i just tried one processor and 1 stick of ram and nothing changed

If you've swapped and used both CPU's and RAM sticks with the same result it could be the motherboard or power supply. Easiest thing to swap is the power supply.

when something similiar happened to me on my last build it was a loose wire*
go back "grounded" and painstakingly double check your case to mobo wires.
Check all the connections...AGAIN... especially if using sata connections
video card / ram / cpu & heatsink seated firmly / connections from it to monitor?
its going to be something stupid... :P good luck
