Title: REMOVING UNWANTED ICONS FROM DESKTOP
Post by: ianbell on November 28, 2007, 11:26:58 AM
Hi, I have just re-installed w98se after a brief foray into the wonderful world of xp which sucks so bad I can't understand why anyone would use the thing, never mind Vista!   Anyway I have the old problem of two icons on the desktop which I don't want and, at this point, can't remove - this hapened last time I installed w98se and I know there is an easy way to remove the things, but cannot remember how I did it 5 years ago.  The icons  in question are 'windows messaging inbox' currently renamed S--T and the "network" icon which is useless as I don't got a Network!
Any help will be appreciated.
Ian

OK, I've finished laughing at your comments about Windows XP and I think I can post now.   :D  This should help: http://www.activewin.com/tips/reg/desktop_4.shtml

That solved the problem for both icons - as soon as I saw 'regedit' on the link, it came back to me! - Thanks.
