Title: Automatic Download
Post by: Joey_Marie on December 21, 2007, 09:49:29 PM
I just got Vista, which, might I add, I hate passionately, and somehow, whenever I go to download a file off the internet, like a .zip folder for instance, it automatically downloads to some random folder that I can never find, no matter how hard I search my computer for it. It's under something like "Internet Files" or something, I'm not sure. I've tried searching the site, but I have no clue what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out.

We need to know what browser you're using in order to help you. Windows version doesn't matter in this case.

I have the same problem... Using Internet Explorer.... 7? I think.  Downloads to the downloads folder (or where ever I have been downloading to last)

In Firefox it's Tools/Options/Downloads/Download Folder...this can be changed to anything you want...

Haven't looked at IE for 5 years so someone else will have to chime in...

I don't use IE, either, but I did some search, and unless someone knows the better way, it appears, that you can permanently change IE default download directory only through registry edit:
http://pcs.suite101.com/article.cfm/ie_default_download_location
Of course, on the other hand, when you click on "Save", then "Save As" window will open, and you can specify where you want your file to be downloaded.

Broni, that is correct. There is nothing in tools to change where your dl goes but the user is always asked where to save it.

I assume, you use IE...Does it always "propose" to save into the same folder, where you directed it last time?

Sorry, I've been so busy what with the holidays going on lately. But yes, I use IE, and no, it doesn't propose where to save, it just does.

I've got the same problem, only I use AOL Explorer instead of IE. Anyone know how to fix that?

If I left it alone, it probably would save to the Downloads folder but I also download a lot of Midi files which goes into a different folder.
