That's it.
Any known brand: Belkin, Linksys, Netgear, D-Link...will do.

I just got a belkin router but i need to know how to make it encrypted or safer than it is now cause i don't think it has anything to stop like neighbors  from getting on the network

1. Open a Web Browser
 2. In the address bar type http://192.168.2.1  (http://192.168.2.1)
 3. Click on Security in the left hand column under Wireless
 4. Click Submit
 5. Select WPA-PSK (no server) from the Security Mode section
 6. Enter your Pre-shared Key (your choice)
Note: You can mask your Pre-shared Key by selecting Obscure PSK
 7. Click on Apply Changes

Well, you'll have to go back to the store, and exchange it for Vista compatible network adapter.

You need Vista compatible network adapter, not a router.
