I don't know any source where you can get it free, and, if I did, I'd avoid it.  Same goes for sources selling it at prices way below normal pricing.  Yes, it's likely to have flaws and you won't be able to authenticate with Microsoft and get the normal support for it.

How about downloading one of the other alternative operating systems?? I believe one is calle LINEX..sorry if i have spelled that wrong...

Linux.

Most if not all flavors can be DLoaded Free and/or ordered on CD for a small shipping fee...
