Hello
I want to trim some of the programs in my "start up".
Most of them ar listed in a code or drastic abbreviation.
As examples:gttask, Logi_Mwx, apdproxy
Can someone help me with this?

A lot of the entries in Startup will show here (http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm). Google for others. Sometimes the first two letters give the answer e.g. qttask (yes it's a q not a g) is for Quick Time, apdproxy is for Adobe Photoshop.

Go File>Export, save report, and paste it into your next post.

try this
WIN+R to open "run"
type "msconfig" in text box
press Enter (or Click OK)
open up the "System configuration Utility"
change to "startup"
just Click "disable all"
"apply"->"OK"
and then restart your system
(or logout & relogin later)

trust me.
Those who can not be disabled, is either a virus, or the antivirus software's monitoring program
In both cases , this will not cause any damage to your system.

Please disregard qinghao's advice franke. Disabling all start up entries should only be done in case of startup problems. Many people have application they'd like to start with Windows and these would be disabled if you follow qinghao's advice.
And qinghao please don't give out this kind of advice when you don't know what the OP got starting with Windows and what me might want to keep. This is why experienced troubleshooters like Broni ask the user to post his startup items. Furthermore, examining the list of applications loading with windows might reveal malware that would go unnoticed if he follows your advice.

Could you recommend the ones that you are sure can be deleted from the startup.

No problem.
Now, as far as recommending ones that can be deleted... any of the aol ones can unless (god forbid) you actually have aol.
Also, quick time task and the works calendar reminder can both be safely disabled.

As per your advise,I installed "quick start" and saw the items that are there.
Then,as per Socretes's advise,I accessed GOOGLE,and deciphered the items.
Then,I disenabled those that I'm sure are not necessary,ad asked help in determiningany others to disinstall.
I tried to cut/copy and paste to here,but was unsuccessful.
Maybe there is something wrong wit ME or my computer.I have big trouble cut/copy and paste images to anywhere.
I found a poor soul who bet me that the Pats would beat the Giants in the Superbowl.He even gave me 3 points.Now,I have a nice pic of Eli that he would use for his avatar,this month,but I can't get it to the website,

It depends on ctfmon.exe location, and on program, you used to determine that.
Download HijackThis:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/hijackthis.html
and post its log.
If you can't paste it, you may attach it, using Additional Options... from Reply window.

I am unableto send a screenshot of the data presented bythe snapfile.
I have saved the website in my "favorite" file,and can easily access it.

then I go to this post and RtClick. but Paste is not on the menu

I just tried to copy or cut n image from my "PICTURES" page with no success.
My computer is at fault.I wonder if I damaged it when I disenabled some items in my STARTUP.

You don't attach images, you attach text (.txt\log) files. They shouldn't be over 128KB.

I'm not sure what you're doing.
Do it all over. Run HJT. When it's done, it opens Notepad window with the log. Just save that file, and attach it to your next reply.

This is not gonna work. Again, I can't open your file, and anyway, I need text file, not gif.
Open HJT, run the scan. When it's done, the Notepad will open with HJT log. In Notepad, go File>Save As, save the file to known location, and attach it to your reply.

What program are you using to create those files Franke? Online TrID (http://mark0.net/onlinetrid.aspx) identifies them as AOL ART files but none of my imaging software will open them.
(I'm just curious btw., follow Broni's advice and make a proper hijackthis log.)

I AM trying to do as he says.
That file is the hijack file that he gave me.(it's called hijack file)
I was unable to copy it directly to my post here;but I could,and did,copy it to my "picture"page on my computer.
I was able to copy it from there to this post.
I have no idea why I,alone,can open the file.With my intense attemps to do as he said,I downloaded it 10 times,easily.

Download HijackThis.exe
* Double-click on the installer you just downloaded.
* Click on the Install button to install.
* It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis
* Please do not change the default install location.
* Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.
* Next click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button.
* HijackThis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
* Copy and then paste the log in your next reply.
Note: If you need to save the log for posting later then save it to the desktop.
To save the notepad file to your desktop in notepad click "File" "Save As"
Name it HijackThis.

I have the file(TrendMicro HijackThis 2.0.2),and can read it.
But cannot copy/paste it here.
Where is NOTEPAD? I explored my computer,and could not find it.
If I could browse to the file,in notepad,maybe i could copy/paste it to here.

Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories. Notepad should be there. If you still can't find it, try this: Start, Run, and type notepad in the Open box.

I found the NOTEPAD;it's empty-nothing there
I accessed the hoy\t file again.I have three main options:
Analyze This --Upload to Trend Secure --Main Menu
Scan & Fix Checked Info on Selected Item
Other Stuff --Info --Config --Add Checked to Ignore List
Do I select any of these?

Try one more time.
Open HJT....

Click on Scan button.
When scanning is done, Scan button changes to Save log button.
Click on it.
Save pop-up window will open.
Note where file will be saved. In my example, log will be saved to C:\Temp directory.
Click Save button.
Save window will close.
Notepad will open. Close it
Proceed to your ComputerHope thread, and click Reply
In Reply window click on Additional Options..., then click on Browse button.
Browse window will open.
Navigate to place where your file was saved, click on that file ONCE, and click Save button.
Browse window will close, and you'll be back in Reply window.
Click Post button, and you're done.

As Broni told you to do you ignored it totally. Its very simple and he posted all the steps you have to do.
1--- Its not a picture that you have to upload(Attach with) or copy
2--- Its a txt file (notepad) more like word 2003/2007 that you have to copy
3--- If you run(open) HJT and click the scan button
4--- When this is done, click Save log button, theoretical it will save it as a txt file
5--- Memorise the location were the log txt file was saved when you clicked the save log button OK.
6--- You must know the location were that file is saved please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7--- Back to computer Hope, Click reply
8--- Click Additional Options
9--- Click the browse... button a dialog box will open
10-- Navigate (Find the file that you saved with HJT please its simple and that's why i said memorise the location were you saved that file)
11-- If you find it then click on the file than click OPEN on the dialog box, then the box will disappear...

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
The "image" that I referred to,is the illustration of the text,in the 'save'portion of opening the file.If I select'save'on that illustration,I should get the text,as a file.In this case,I selected'save'and got nothing.
I tried,again,this morning,to run the snap file,with the same result.It downloads for an hour,and then aborts.
I really appreciate the time that you folks gave to me. In my own defence,I can say that my computer has NEVER worked as well as the old one that it replaced.It was a gift fromthe Family,at Christmas,2002.

HEY;listen up.
I clicked onto my hijack icon,to clear the junk from my computer,and,the text appeared,with an address;notepad.
Thanks to you,I can find NOTEPAD.But it is empty.
Is there still hope for the hopeless?

Of course notepad is empty... it's just a program for word processing. You can copy and paste into notepad, but it's not supposed to magically show what's wrong with the computer.
Broni spelled out as clearly as possible what you need to do. Have you followed those steps? If so, tell us where you're getting stuck.
