CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!
-
ok dude. heres the scoop. it's a compaq system right?
go to compaq\HP's website and go the support section. then search for your model of compaq computers. i have a compaq computer so i know what im talking about.
once you have located your model's information then go to the driver download's section. locate the audio driver and click on download, follow the instructions and voila! you have sound back on your computer. believe me I did it on mine because I downgraded the son of a b**** from vista to xp.
-
ok, on the front of the tower itself there should be a model number. you need that model number in order to get to the correct download page. i can help you find the drivers but i need your computer's model number. thats located on the front of the actual computer tower. find that and post it and youll get an even faster answer.

[here what i did when i had no sound coning out.
download wizard pc 2007 or wizard pc 2008 this will tell you every device that is phisically on your computer by name and manufacurer. once you have identified your hardware go online to the manufaurerers website
to download a better driver for you device
footnote; i solved my problem in about two weeks

-
i went through the same thing,
if you alreagy havent down load wizard pc 2007 0r 08
this will tell you every bit of hardware and embedded hardware you have.
once you have identified the hardware for your audio properties, go to the
manufacturers website to down load the newer or better drivers

But I'm seriously tired of downloading, and dowloading. Just find 1 download and end this once and for all.

I went through this same insanity for two years on two different computers on XP Pro and I went through the whole hours and days of Troubleshooting ..updating drivers in the device manager etc...checking BIOS...all that hours and hours of nothing working...
Finally I went to www.download.com and updated my realtek c97 Audio Driver directly from them. I had updated it in the device manager many times with the message successfully saying...I had the best driver etc already .....but I figured maybe to download it from them directly. I had tried everything else.
I did..it worked in five seconds....insane!!!
It was that easy.....so...if you have the Code 10, This device cannot start...your Audio Settings are grayed out with no audio device detected and your device manager showing the driver as working.....go directly to the manufacturer for the download or www.download.com to get it..FREE.
I could have saved hours and hours and hours of stress if someone would have said...maybe instead of updating from the device manager do it from the manufacturer..but than again..Microsoft would rather have up pay for support..spend hours on their help site and update to Windows 7....
Uggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hope this helps.....what a waste of time...
