Hello,
I recently bought Blaster Audigy SE. I replaced it with my 8 year old sound card, ha ha. Anyway, when I try to install it on my computer, I get the following error: Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this Setup program.
Any idea what this means? As you can probably tell, I'm not very good with computers. ???

I presume both the new and old card are PCI cards? See picture below if you don't know what I'm talking about (called "Traditional PCI" in the pic).

Check the card is properly seated.
Have you tried another PCI port?
What version of Windows do you have?

This is probably a totally stupid question, but what's a PCI port? I just put it where my old sound card was. I'll try some other slots, I could of put it in wrong.

Yea, I think so. I'll need to get my computer back open and check if I put it in the right one. So I put it in the traditional PCI port, correct?

Hmm now that I look at my computer, it's a lot different than the picture you posted. My computer is probably 8 years old at most, if that has anything to do with it.
It's kinda hard to explain what it looks like. I can post any computer information if needed.

The make and model of the computer at the very least.
If you can tell me the make and model of the motherboard that would be even better.
What was the name of your old sound card?
What is the exact name of the new one?
Is it mentioned on the box of the new one what type of sound card it is? PCI, PCI Express, USB, etc.

It's Gateway.
I'm not sure where I find the make and model of the motherboard. :(
The name of the old sound card: Creative Sound Blasters Live and the model number is: CT4870(if that helps any.)
The new one is: Blaster Audigy SE.
I'm pretty sure it's PCI.

Gateway isn't really enough... Gateway have a lot of different models.
But never mind, did the old card fit into a slot like this: (Note the length and the separation into a large and small section.)

Do the new card fit in the same slot? I.e. it is neither to long or small and you're able to plug it all the way in.

Yes, as far as it looks, it seems to be able to plug in.

HA! Wooot!! I just got it working, apparently I had to push the sound card really hard into the slot. Thanks for your help though.
