Up until about 2 weeks ago, I have been able to tell what posts I have clicked because they would change from blue to purple. Now, they change color when I click on them but when I come back to the page, the link is blue again. This happens on every website. However, links that I had clicked before my computer had this problem are still purple.
This may sound like a minor problem but it is very frustrating when searching Craigslist or eBay- you can't tell what you've clicked on or where you're at on a page.
-
What browser?
-
IE
I messed around with some setting under "browsing history" and changed "check for newer versions of stored pages" to "never". That solved the problem but do I really want to have it set at that?
-
If you want your clicked links to show...yes.
Whenever you start a new session this automatically happens anyways.

That is for mozilla and she is using IE

What are you on about here ? ?
I've read it 3 times and i still don't get what you're saying.
It applies to all browsers.

I went away from the computer for awhile and came back- it stopped working again! What the heck is going on!?
-
and changed "check for newer versions of stored pages" to "never"
This is not a good idea, because you rather want to have fresh pages, then old ones.
What do you have "Days to keep pages in history" set to?
Also, do you have Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed option in Adavnced tab, checked?
-
25 days.
That box is unchecked.
-
What IE version?
Did you try Firefox?
-
I honestly don't know what version it is.
I have never used Firefox.
-
In Internet Explorer click Help, then About Internet Explorer, and it'll tell you what version it is.
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
-
It's version 7.0.
I'd really like to try and resolve what's wrong with IE before using a new browser.
Have you ever heard of anyone else with this problem? It's very odd considering it was working for a while then I came back and it isn't working anymore.

In IE, go Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab. Click on Reset button.
If you had any add-ons installed, you'll have to re-enable them by going Tools>Manage Add-ons
-
That did it. I hope it lasts this time. I'm not sure how much I un-did but I'm sure I can make it all like it used to be. :D
Thank you so much for your help! :)

I'm glad, it worked :)
Reset returned IE to its original state, so you'll have to re-check its settings.
