Title: Wndows Me recovery
Post by: muku on March 22, 2008, 08:12:46 AM
Was happy with compaq pressario 5000 with Me preinstalled.
One day -installed xp sp2 from a friend'scd-obviously can't update it from the big dad's  official site.
Tred to reinstall Me with the restore cds that came with the pc.Failed.
I am planning this way.
 (1)Erase theHDD.
(2)Install 98.with freely available cds from lcal pc assemblers.
(3)Then try to reinstall Me  with the Recovery cds.
Should it work?
And  would any expert describe in some what more detail all the steps required to accompish the above three steps ?
Thanks,
Muku.

If the drive is formatted no need to install Win98 first...if the CD's are the Compaq OEM's it should work fine...
If the machine has a floppy drive then first DLoad the WinME boot disk from bootdisk.com....grab the one with CDRom support and you should be good to go.
