You're not continuing to be on the Internet without firewall protection, are you? :o
-
get commodo firewall and i think it's better than the window's firewall because it is always being updated.
-
Comodo is better, then Windows firewall, not because of updates, but because it gives you two-way protection, while Windows firewall protects only from incoming traffic.
-
i believe that windows xp sp2 brought you the newer windows firewall that allows it to scan incoming and outgoing stuff. Windows Vista's firewall does that too I believe. Unless I am wrong, that is supposedly what microsoft said it should do....
But comodo is always just updating all the time and it brings you more dialogs than windows firewall does and that asssures me that it's hard at work ;D
-
the newer windows firewall that allows it to scan incoming and outgoing stuff
Whatever it scans, it fails most of leak (outgoing traffic) tests. I tested it myself some time ago.
-
Even with SP2 Windows firewall does not scan outgoing from everything i have read...
This may be different in Vista however.
-
at worst, windows firewall should be enabled IF you are definitely not going to get other third party firewall software. It's better than nothing at all.
-
It's better than nothing at all.
Absolutely.

Meanwhile while we're dissecting firewalls he has gone missing...

Ok guys back at work today and still no luck on getting it to connect. Do i have to make that profile in order to use firefox? - JT
-
This is what I suggest.
Completely uninstall Firefox, strictly following steps from here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox
Install fresh copy.
-

if you set a new profile for firefox, it will be the same as "resetting" firefox to it's defaults (without having to reinstall base program).
it's like resetting Internet Explorer to default by clicking the resetting button.
