Title: file system used in laptops
Post by: myhigh on April 26, 2008, 09:41:27 PM
Hello there!

I would just like to know what kind of file system should be used in a portable laptop

that is using windows xp.

The reason I am asking is because I just got an ACER laptop (model aspire 3613) and

just noticed that it's running with Fat 32 file system, just wondering if this is normal..

thanks in advance for any info on this matter,Larry ???

Windows of NT flavor (Windows 2000, and later) should be run in NTFS system.

FAT 32 is appropriate if you are going to dual boot some older operating system like win 98 or win 95 but otherwise NTFS is the way it should be. It's the "native" file system for windows NT, 2000, XP and Vista.
