This is NOT the blue screen of death.
The problem I'm having is that, at random times, my screen will shade over in blue, and pretty much make everything darker. Sometimes it'll return to normal, or just stay blue like it is now. I've tried everything I know, and I still can't get it to stop doing this, so now I'm posting here in hopes that I can find a way to fix my monitor (or whatever's causing the problem).
If any specs are needed, tell me (and also tell me how to find where these specs are supposed to be listed...I'm an idiot with computers). I'm running Windows XP with a Gateway computer.

can you try using a different monitor?

I don't have another one to use.

well it seems like a problem with the monitor. Make sure that the monitor cable is plugged securely into the computer itself. Is the monitor a VGA or DVI?

Do you know anyone who has a computer who you could borrow a monitor from for an hour ? ?

Is the monitor a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) or Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)?

Bingo dahlarbear...
If you're using a CRT press the OSD, arrow to the "degauss" option, then press "degauss". Degauss will de-magnetise your monitor. This can occur if you place your desktop speakers, your TV or even electrical cables in your wall too close to your monitor.
