Hi everyone. I have a HP Dual core/64X2 / 250 GB / 1 Gb with a 1Gb upgrade/running Vistas home premium/ My music has been stalling while playing. I'm using about 1 Gb according to my gauge.
-
With Vista, you want 2GB of RAM.
-
I have 2GB, I added a added last week
-
Are you talking about music CDs, music stored on your computer, music from the internet, or...all of it?
What player do you use?
-
I'm playing music that I download, I use windows Media center, also I tunes.
-
Did you try updating your sound driver?
-
I'll check and see.
-
OK.
-
My computer says everything is up to date.
-
It doesn't matter. What you want to try, is to download the newest driver, uninstall current one, and install fresh one.
-
ok, i'll do that. wish me luck
-
Sure thing :)
-
Where do I go to get the driver?
-
Download, and install Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
Open it, click Computer, then Summary.
In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary
Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Don't include anything under line Debug - PCI
-
I appreciate you're help Broni, Thanks
-
No problem :)
-
Well, I'm not too good at this. I went to the site and didn't see what to install, the Everest I mean. I don't even know how to look up my own driver to uninstall that one. Are there more than one driver? are there drivers for different programs? Sorry I'm such trouble.

Is this what you're looking for Broni?
-
Yes. Hold on.
-
Hold Windows key, and hit Pause/Break key. What processor is listed there?
-
AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual core
-
Download your driver from here: http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/realtek-high-definition-driver-vista.html
Don't install it, yet.
Go Start>Control Panel>Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers key, right click on High Definition Audio Controller, click Properties>Driver tab, click on Uninstall button. Confirm.
Restart computer, and install new driver.
-
Ok Broni, I did everything you said. But when I restarted the computer a driver installed on its own, I don't know if it was the one I downloaded or not.
-
An Icon was on my desktop when I downloaded the driver, It looked like an ITune Icon. It said Vista R191, I'm sure thats the new driver.
-
...and? how is music playing?
-
So far so good. I appreciate all you're help Broni. : O )
-
Why did I have to do that? What happens to the old driver? Why did it go bad? why? why? why?
-
Do cars break? Yes....same with computers.
Let's hope, it stays OK.
Good luck :)
