i have a laptop (DELL) it did not have OS in first . i had to buy a windows xp cd and with a product key. i installed this windows on my laptop and registration of windows became complete without any problem .
after a long time for a reason i had to format hard disk then i lost my windows xp when i wanted to reinstall windows xp i recognized i have lost my windows xp's product key and i cannot install windows now and i dont have OS on my laptop
how i can go to microsoft site and get my registration information such as product key and my laptop information on microsoft datbase .
please help me about it

First thing I'd do is give them a call at 1-800-936-5700, to see if they can provide you with a valid key.

while you are waiting, i would DL linux (free) and burn it to a bootable disk (using nero or other software) at least this way you arent stuck without a computer for a fe days / weeks :P

In my experience, Microsoft is usually pretty helpful in matters of this nature. Give them a call like Saviour suggested and see if they can help you.

I don't know where Dell puts their "Authentic Windows" certificates, but some manufacturers put the sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

...and you didn't bother to check, if you have CD, and a key? Hard to believe.
