Title: Can only start in safe mode
Post by: Zannie on February 10, 2005, 05:40:22 PM
Ok, Installed Norton System Works 2005 last week.  I think i accidently left some old Norton updates installed.  Well yesterday morning I went to download my updates, it prompted me to restart my computer so I did, it restarted and then got to the page that asks me which user and then I clicked on my name and then it shut down.  Well finally I figured out that my problem is that I didn't uninstall all of my old Norton software.  (I think that is my problem)  So I was told by a guy at the computer fixing place to uninstall it, but I can only Start in safe mode and the Add/Remove programs won't let me uninstall in safe mode.  I don't want to have to take my computer in and pay someone to do something I can do if someone will just talk me through it.  PLEASE for the love of God can someone tell me what to do?  I would appreciate it.  Email me or reply here.  [email protected]
thanks a million
Zannie

Have you solved your problem??

If not, when your pc boots to safe mode, what's listed in add/remove programs??

He's probably not reading this anymore but incase he is:

Start in safemode and type in msconfig.

Go to startup and if norton is in the startup tab then uncheck it and restart.

HTH,
