;) Try to run your computer in safe mode, by pressing F8 key as soon as you boot your computer. Then, try changing power options in
START  ---   SETTINGS  ---- CONTROL PANEL  --- POWER OPTIONS.
I think power option for monitor is set to 1 or 2 minutes.

If it didn't work, try changing your display settings.

Just to make sure check the cable is plugged into the back of the pc - plus check if the tower has another monitor port.

I had a Hp a few years back which came with on board graphics i later installed a new video card, i remeber taking the pc places and after a few mins of fiddleing about relizsing that i had it plugged in the wrong port.

This may not be any help but you never know. :)

Check your monitor manual to find out how to get out of power saving mode.

1.  More information would be helpful.  See here (http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,33586.0.html)

Please also include the make and model number of the monitor.  Onboard video (integrated) or separate video card?

2.  As you startup your system, when does the monitor start saying "Power Save Mode"?  If you press any keyboard keys or move the mouse, does it display correctly; even if only for a moment?

During the startup process, is any information displayed correctly on the monitor?  When and what?

3.  Have you tried booting to Safe Mode?

4.  Does your new monitor work well on another system?  Does a different monitor work well on your system?
