I have a linksys wireless router and 2 pcs both run xp home the router is a wr54tg and on the second computer it's using a linksys usb wireless adapter the one that is using the adapter is almost always losing a connection to the internet. Should I get a pci wireless card or something? both computers are compaqs

I've had good luck with Linksys wireless USB adapters.
How far away from the router is the computer? Is the signal going through walls or other obstructions? What wireless spec - B, G, N? What signal strength/condition does the computer show? Are you using Linksys software or Windows to configure the adapter?
-
Also, can you try that adapter on another computer to make sure it isn't faulty hardware?
-
it's wireless g and it's only going thru one wall and the signal strength is very good to almost excellent.

Are you using Linksys software or Windows to configure the adapter?
Are you able to direct wire to the router? Same thing?
How about if you direct wire to the modem?

i'm using the linksys software i haven't tried connecting pc directly to the router yet

Okay. Post back when you try the direct connections.
Forgot to ask before, is this a new problem? Did the setup ever work to your satisfaction?
