Ok...so I try to run WIndows Sound Recorder and when i play back the file you can hear what I recorded off the soundcard "audio from a dvd", but there is way too much static...whats the problem? anyone?
more info: this began when I bought a recording software to record streaming audio that just basically records the sound from your sound card...it was doing the same as the windows sound recorder...all this static. I thought it was problem with software, but when i went to windows sound recorder and it did the same i realize that maybe its internal...
thanks

Can you hear other music files, etc., without the static?

yes, all other sounds are fine...its just when I am recording from the sound card... I have Realtek AC97 sound...
any ideas? I did have this problem before with an old computer and was able to fix it, but I don't remember what I did to do that...
any ideas?

Try updating your sound card drivers by going to your sound card manufacturer's website...

Have you contacted your computer manufacturer? Also, is it a possibility that you "cracked" your speakers?
