I hope someone can help me!!! I've been having problems with my Favorites list for awhile....waiting on an answer from a tech. At any rate...all the pages I've wanted to bookmark, well...they were in my history. Here's the problem.....instead of deleting my browser cookies, I deleted my Browser History!!! I really need this back as I'm working on term papers and I'll be screwed if I don't get it back some how. Is there any way of getting my history back????????? PLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nikki :o

if you had a second browser besides internet explorer, that you recently installed you might be able to retrieve your bookmarks if you clicked "import bookmarks" when you installed it, then there is a copy in another browser
-
Your history can be retrieved from index.dat files (if they were not deleted).
Get Index.dat Suite: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/indexdatsuite.html

Thank you so much!!!! It seems that all my links are there...whoo hoo!!! This goes way back too!! How far, roughly, does it pick up!! Thanks again...you'e saved me Broni!!!!! ;D

You're very welcome :)
Make sure, you use bookmarks in the future. They're not that easy to delete by accident.
How far, roughly, does it pick up
If you never deleted index.dat files, they should have info since the day your computer was born.

Yip...................will do!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again!!! :)

Useful...but a MAJOR privacy issue.

Not if you're the only user of your computer. Heh.
Another smart thing to do is sign up for an account on Google (if you happen to use it as your primary search engine). It will store a history of all of your searches and will also show you which pages you visited when searching for a particular thing.

The secret recording of all web activity (which is done by IE and Microsoft) is a major violation of privacy, regardless of the number of users of a single computer.

The smart thing to do is to delete the Google cookie after every Google use so that you are not tracked around the web.
You clearly are not a privacy advocate :)

I'm perfectly aware of it, so it's no secret to me. And the information is contained locally on your computer, not on their servers, so they don't have access to it.

Privacy is certainly a valid concern, but tracking cookies are a very low threat. And all of the info contained within Google's cookies is pretty tame, and in most cases, nobody else is even going to see the information.

We won't reach agreement on this issue. :)

I only needed to see your user name to come to that conclusion myself....

Me Again!!! Tried to use the same thing for my laptop which has Windows Vista Premium edition installed as it's software. Unable to do so. Apparently this doesn't work with Windows Vista!! Is there another program I can use to get my sites from my laptop? :'(
-
Unable to do so
What happened? It works with my Vista.

My second attempt to send...I inadvertantly sent the post before I was completely finished...sorry.
Here goes again:
When I tried to open it up...it said that the file "Comdlg32.ocx" was missing. I then read the instructions...which said the following:
2. System Requirements
NOTE: These are MINIMUM recommendations and should be taken as a guide ONLY.
1. VB6 Runtime files (SP5)
2. Windows 98 Second Edition
3. Visual Basic 6 SP5 Runtime files
Some additional files are also required for this program and are listed below for those that
use the no install option. These are;
1. Comdlg32.ocx
2. MSComctl.ocx
3. Richtx32.ocx
These can be found either in the dependancy package on the programs download page, or at
either of the following;
http://freeware.it-mate.co.uk/?Cat=OCX_Files
http://archives.mysteryfcm.co.uk/?f=Controls/OCX_Files
http://downloads.mysteryfcm.co.uk/?f=Controls/OCX_Files
http://downloads.mysteryfcm.co.uk/?f=Controls/Packages
For information on installing these files, please see;
http://support.it-mate.co.uk/?mode=KB&kbid=15
I then downloaded all of these from the respective sites to no avail. I dunno what to do next??!! I tried restarting the laptop, then uninstalling and re-installing the program, but that didn't work either. ??? ???
Thanks Broni,
Nikki :-\

...and what did you do with them?
1. Comdlg32.ocx
2. MSComctl.ocx
3. Richtx32.ocx
...files should be located in C:\Windows\System32 directory.
See, if you have them there. Make sure hidden, and system files view is enabled.

Hey...will look into this and re-try...thanks so much!!
