Title: HP psc 1200 series Problem
Post by: rock_lee_96 on August 04, 2008, 01:12:41 PM
Hi there,
I have an All-In-One "HP psc 1200 series" printer and when i install the drivers a message pops up saying that I need something additional to my PC configuration to run the All-In-One drivers. There is a Warning Sign /!\  on the "Operating System" icon, because I'm On [32bit Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium CD Version] and the CD only says "98/ME/2000/XP" so the operating system is not supported...

Good thing there is a button "Install Anyway" to click  ;)

But troubles don't end here, after install, I wasn't able to run none of the driver programs, even in compatibility mode for WinXP SP2...

People told me that you don't use HP software to scan, you use Microsoft software to scan, so I looked online and I found that I can scan using paint, but *CRASH* look here:

As you can see the "From Scanner or Camera" option is NOT available.
Afterwards, I found why:

As you can see, the folowing screenshot is taken from Device Manager, and I have Spotlighted the other devices section, which CANNOT recognize my HP psc 1200 series as a usable device.
I can still use my printer, but I can't do anything with the scanner.

Please help, I really need this...

Can you try reinstalling the driver for the printer (this can be done if you have the CD that came with the printer)

I've tried that, but during install, an error message says that there is a DLL file missing from the install location. I don't remember the name of the missing file but probably tomorrow I can give you a screenshot.

BTW it's my birthday  ;D

Edit:
Wait a second, thats about a missing GIF file!
That's so werid. Last time I got a DLL file missing now a GIF file.....
I lso forgot to say that even clicking "retry" my PC wastes 5 minutes doing NOTHING and then says "Missing File" again.....

After you uninstall the printer, have you tried downloading and reinstalling 'Windows Installer then try the install again ?

Nope, but right now I'm downloading this "Windows Installer"
After I... umm... Install the "Windows Installer" I'll see if I can do something about it...

Edit:
Can you give me a link for downloading?
I'm on a 32bit vista and I can't find any "Installer" for it...

If you can find one please write, because I can't (Yes, you may also give links from the Microsoft website, I have a genuine Vista...)

OK, I got all running, I made a succsessfull pre-install of the driver and paint still says no...

I was thinking if I can install the printer drivers on a virtual xp machine, will that work ???

I guess it would work in an XP environment, but no guarantees.

Well Ok I'll try it and when I'm finished I'll post the results.
After all the CD says:

MAC OS X OR:
Windows 98,2000,XP

Yeah, it also says online that the driver is only for Windows XP

Good Luck!

I keep getting a stinking error message whatever I do.
Says something stupid about an error, update to what the error says after 5 mins.

OK Here are the errors:

The second error (the log) is actually what you see (the two error codes) that keep repeating over and over again until I realized I can't do anything, so I clicked cancel (Operation Aborted By User).

BTW I'm almost pissed off of this. If I can't do a thing then I'll just Buy an Ultimate Vista with all the virtual systems on it. And If we don't have cash or the PC won't be stable, then I'll just move the scanner to the other room to function on the laptop with XP. Who cares, at least I'll get the problem fixed.

Use Right Click>Open Image.

Or if you're on a buggy browser:

Heh, you're right.  :-[

I don't know what the problem may be. Is this a genuine Windows CD?

Can't afford that right now, but I know a friend who can give me one.

Also, the CD used for this is NOT Genuine, but I'm on a hacked vista too, and it works just fine.
For the virtual XP I used the CD that I used before to Install my XP and it worked fine, Installed it, no errors. But I have no idea why it ain't workin' on a VMware...

Illegal copies of Windows, eh?

I don't think we can help you with that.....

Well then I'll ask my friend to give me his original windows.
But you'll have to wait at least 2 days 'till I get it...

It may be because you're on a fake copy of Vista.

News- I got the original CD - guess what - Doesent work  >:(

BTW I've never heard of stuff not working because of it being illegal...
I've Played at least 54 original games on this fake vista, and they all worked fine...
So I just don't know, are you trying to say that if I try the virtual XP program on my mother's laptop (the only PC in the house with XP and original OS) the program will work? Highly doubt it, but just confirm what I should try and I'll try it...

Microsoft  has invisible waves built into XP to make you feel guilty.
If that don't work it will hypnotize you and you will suffer.

You may want to consider going legit on both machines...at least that way you will have a shiny CD with holograms all over it which can be used to solve issues such as this.
Title: Is this it?
Post by: rock_lee_96 on October 07, 2008, 11:30:31 AM
OK, I'll try to make this clean and short:

1. I'm not spending over 500$ Just for Original OS's on both machines.
2. All I'm trying to do is make the scanner work on vista too, not only on my mom's laptop!
3. It's never a shame to say you give up, so if you guys say that you're left out of ideas, just admit it, I wont be angry, Sad or anything like that, If my mom or me need the scanner A LOT here's the solution: Move it to our XP PC, and just use it there...

I'm not ashamed at all ...and i didn't give up, i just chose to no longer participate.
There's a difference.
