I tried to run the programs you suggested to no avail. Everything including windows defender seems to be blocked. I'm sorry I can't post the logs. Have you heard of anything that moves the cursor across the address or search bar? I can't even type in passwords. This is frustrating beyond belief. I'm willing to reformat if I can figure out how. I put Windows Vista disc in drive and computer ignores it. Any suggestions are welcome. ???

When you're booting Windows, keep pressing F8.
A menu will come up and you can choose Safe mode from there.

tried safe mode with networking... same thing happens I'll try again without the networking?

It's up in safe mode. I'm afraid to touch anything, but the cursor didn't race across the search bar when I clicked start. **holding breath**
spoke too soon. The scroll bar goes all the way to the bottom of the screen. grrrrrrrrrrrr Is it too early to start drinking? lol

The cursor races all the way across the search or address bar as if the spacebar is stuck, the scroll bar goes all the way to the bottom, so I can't see the top of the window. The only button that works when I try to do anything is cancel. Bizarre!

Okay, I tried that, and it won't let me. I can't click "Choose a different restore point" or "Next" Nothing happens.

Can you use the run command?
If yes, go to it and type "msconfig". Then click on "Launch System Restore".

No, I can't. The cursor goes immediately to the end of the line. My gut tells me it's some kind of Java exploit. It's the only thing that makes sense. Can I delete java on it from one of the other computers on network or will that just infect the other computer, too?

I don't think java would do anything.

If you put your cursor in the address bar, it lets you type. If I click up there, it acts like my spacebar is stuck and races all the way across to the end of the line.

Interesting...... So how come you can't System Restore? This is awfully confusing. :-X
If it seems to be a Keyboard problem, can you try another one? Preferably a PS/2 keyboard (round end)

The first thing I did was unplug the keyboard and throw it. I'm calm and patient like that. No keyboard, new keyboard same issue. The only thing left is a haunting. I'm at a loss.

You don't happen to have another Desktop computer, do you?

If another desktop doesnt work....
I think you could try re-formating....
It is a big step, I know, but it may be your only option.
If you can, backup all your personal data first, as re-formating will erase everything to the day you got the PC.

You could try removing the Hard Drive out of the damaged computer and hooking it up to another computer as a Slave.
Then you can run the scans.

I have Trend Micro Internet Security 2008. You'd think it would have caught whatever. I'll have to move the hd before I can scan anything. I know zero about RAID hd's, so I'll have to wait for help to wake up.

Basically, make sure you are grounded (to prevent a static shock) and open up the computer case.
You should be able to put it in the good computer in the place of its CD Drive. (make sure both computers are off)
Make sure the jumpers are set to slave (back of the Hard Drive, where the plugs are)

Go figure. I'm not allowed to take the anointed computer apart. Is there any way to hook up an ide hd on the raid system and scan it that way? Will Windows find the array? When did computers get so complicated!?!

The harddrives on the problem computer are SATA raid. Does that mean the hd is different or is it just hooked up differently?

Sounds like a no, right? lol Guess his majesty will dismantle my perfectly functional computer when he gets home tonight. ;D It is a really pretty case with blue lights and all kinds of gizmos. I probably wouldn't want me messing with it either. Oh well, out of my hands. I'm sure I'll be the one posting when he really messes it up later.

Just shoot me! A cordless keyboard on the other side of the room had something sitting on the space bar. No wonder the computer was acting exactly like the space bar was stuck!!! ::) I threw the wrong keyboard earlier. ;D

lmao In addition to having 2 harddrives and 2 video cards, his majesty's computer evidently has 2 keyboards and 2 mouses (mice) installed. He's saying that the extra mouse and keyboard are so that he can play on the big screen.... so add 2 monitors to the configuration.
He walked out, noticed some light blinking and picked up the shoe that was sitting on the spacebar of the cordless (spare) keyboard. Clear as mud? ;)
Don't those things have an off switch? Nevermind, that's a hardware issue. ;D

Weird things always happen with my computers. Back in ancient times when I had DSL, I could only acess email and a few websites. Naturally first question from lvl 1 help desk, "Is it plugged in?" Duh! I'm online, sort of.
An hour into the conversation I noticed that the plug was only halfway plugged in. Sorta plugged in, sorta connected. I plugged the thing the rest of the way into the outlet, and my internet was restored to ALL it's glory. Well, all the glory that DSL is capable of.
When I told the poor help desk guy how I fixed it, I thought he was gonna choke to death. Help desk dudes now run screaming from the room like they're on fire when I call. ;D
