Title: HELP!!!
Post by: jade0193 on August 22, 2008, 05:32:18 AM
I have just installed wireless internet on my computer. I have vista home basic and the windows updates were being installed automatically. I had just put a cd into my disc drive to listen to some music and once I had finished I went to turn off my computer and I had the choice of turning it off with updates which I chose. Once I had turned my computer back on later, I went to put a disc in and it wasn't recognised by my computer. I can't access the drive through 'my computer' and on the devices section there is a large yellow attention sign over the drive and the details say it is a code 10. Can someone help me to resolve this problem???

I suggest reinstalling the drivers for the device.

Go to your manufacturers website and look for the exact model and download it.

If jamesj2001's advice doesn't work....

Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
You'll see two items:
- ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
- ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstal. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.
