I wouldn't change a thing. If you choose, it will run WindowsXP.

I suggest the same... ;)

I recently had to rebuild a gateway laptop due to a worm. I found the gateway website very helpful and the prices weren't terrible. I ended up increasing the memory and going to windows 2000. But check out thier website.

Once again... I agree.... Looking back, I did the same thing, and it put me in a lot of trouble, so maybe I will reconsider my decision... I'm taking dl65's side on this one...

Looks like we're all in agreement! XP may work just fine on this PC. ;D
According to Microsoft, the minimum recommended hardware requirements to use XP are:
* Pentium 233 MHz or equivalent
* 128 MB RAM
* 1.5 GB free on a 2 GB hard disk
* Video display adapter and monitor with VGA resolution or higher
* CD-ROM drive (12x or faster) or DVD drive
* High-density 3.5-inch floppy disk drive, unless the computer supports starting Setup from a CD-ROM or DVD drive
* Keyboard & mouse (or other pointing device)
One suggestion: Be sure to check the hardware compatibility list @ the Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/hcl/
Some old hardware may not work with XP, that is, unless the manufacturer has XP drivers available for download.

128mbs of ram...hmmm...upgrade the memory before installing XP...XP is a memory hog. But everything else is good...keep it. Put at least 512mb RAM

Good point! I think it makes sense to double *all* the Microsoft recommended minimum requirements.
I have one XP machine with 191 MB RAM & it is annoyingly slow when multi-tasking. Increasing the pagefile size & putting it on a different hard drive helped, but more RAM is a must.
