Title: The chat experiment / stress test
Post by: Computer Hope Admin on September 11, 2008, 06:03:10 AM
I'd like to run a stress test on the upcoming chat feature (http://embed.mibbit.com/?channel=%23computerhope&nick=admin&settings=80e49f805cec00055cd55e64fc9e7fd0&noServerMotd=true) and help introduce the chat to everyone and maybe get a lot of us chatting all at once. I'm sure the chat should perform fine since it's now running on an IRC server, so it's likely going to be more of a working out any bugs and getting to know your fellow forum members.

However, with everyone in different time zones, doing different things, etc. I thought we'd put it to a vote on what days and times you're available. This vote allows for multiple votes so put in all days and the times you're available or would like to participate and the day and time has the most votes will be the deciding factor.

If successful or if everyone would like to continue this trend we can make it more of a ritual of having these little pow wows.

If you need a time converter for MST or MDT (Mountain time) -- Utah click here (http://www.timeconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc)

or just want to see what time it is in Utah now to compare the differences try this Google link (http://www.google.com/search?q=what+time+is+it+in+utah&ie=UTF-8)

Is Sep 22-28 the only dates to chat?  Because I'm gone on vacation that entire week.  :-[

Looks like the days we have a three way tie. So I've decided that we'll have this on Saturday (9/27/2008) between the times of 7-9PM (MST), if enough interest is voiced we could also do this on Sunday at the same time (assuming new server is not good to go, in which case may be doing that).

Chat experiment didn't go as I'd hoped, no one showed up so guess not much interest or everyone was too busy. :)

I know I've been up.....most of the time...

The past few days have been a bit hard though. Quite a lot of homework to do.  :(
In fact, I just realized it's 12:23am! Wow, time flies when you're not having fun.....

Can't be on 24/7 as much as I'd like to be. But I'm on quite a bit Ivy although past week I've been absent more than I'd like since I'm still working on setting up new server for Computer Hope. :)

Ongoing process. I remember now why I always had hesitations with maintaining a server. It's not as if I've got a lot of time and now I've got even less. :)

Just to say, I wasn't there because it really doesn't fit with my time.
I believe I'm 7 hours ahead of MST, so 7-9p.m. is 2-4a.m. my time . . . not ideal.
