Have you tried unplugging the keyboard, and then plugging it back in, again?

How long have you had this keyboard?  Is it still under warranty?

Does anybody understand this? Surely if an individual cannot be bothered to post a coherent question free from spelling errors, they can hardly expect to receive coherent, legible replies?

I am not suggesting that all those who post messages should be wholly familiar with the language of Shakespeare, but let's have some effort, please! Why? Because the person who posted this question is really posing two questions: one, please decipher my grotesque use of English and, secondly, can anybody help with my computer issue.

Cheers

Steve

Dear Steve:

Most of those who frequent this forum would tell you that you got on the soapbox on which I usually stand -- regarding grammar, etc.

You will note there are no such entries from me on this thread.  There is a distinct reason for this.

Please note the letters mentioned as not working:  h and g, among other keys.
Please note the letters missing from the words in the posts.  Do you see a pattern?

I would remove the keyboard and:

a) hold it upside down and tap the sides while shaking it to dislodge any debris.

b) vacuum the keyboard.

c) try to remove the affected keys (pry off) to see if debris is blocking the action.

Hello

I am having similar problems with my laptop. It doesn't always type the key I have chosen and if I try and use the same key more than once then this doesn't work either, E.G the delete button i cant hold this in to delete or tap it fast i have to keep tapping and hope for the best. this happens on all keys and there is no real pattern to as and when it happens. This is really annoying and has only recently started being like this can anyone help?

The laptop is Siemens Esprimo mobile V5535 and I have windows vista

I am hopeless with computers so any help is appreciated

Tanks for all te replies.

ere is wat i ave done:

1. Tried te keyboard on a different pc.
2. Used compressed air.
3. Took te keyboard apart, seperated te plastic keys from te back, tried to clean it.
4. Pressed te silicon like keys temselves - it worked for te keys tat work, not so for letters between f and i for example.

I tink tere's sometin wron wit te keyboard. Te main reason I'm still opin it mit be sometin is tat all tese keys stopped workin simultaneously, at once.

I tink it's still under warranty, but I don't know if I can find te receipt. (te keyboard was around 30 bucks)

Any ideas? I'm not very opeful, but you just never know.

*Also emailed te company.

Tanks aain!

For now you can use the on screen keyboard in Windows, Start > All Programs > Accessories > Accessibility.

If that doesn't work then you have a malware issue... you can try updating the driver too.

Did you spilled something on the kb? You can get a new one for less than 10 dollars US.

You guys make me LOL out loud!

You list keyboards for one penny -- one penny under $10 US!  Be still, my foolish heart!
I hope you didn't break your arms patting yourselves on the back!  What about shipping charges???  So much for $10 US.   ::)  I have seen keyboards retail, on occasion, for ten dollars or less in regular store, so by the time you "throw in" tax, you're not much over ten dollars.   I just love it when people throw out prices here and don't bother to qualify that they don't include shipping charges.

Tiger Direct?  Where the pros shop?   ::)  I've shopped at their physical premises, so I guess that settles that.

Hmm,

I think I've found a temporary solution. I first tried the Microsoft on-key keyboard - found it too "out of the way" for regular use. I downloaded Sharp keys, and remapped the few keys which weren't working. (g to 5, h to 7, esc to `, ` to caps lock, alt to the left windows button)

It's still a bit annoying, but worth it for now, unless more keys break. I kinda like this keyboard as it gives me more working space and has lights!

I'll miss my own posts as well, they were really fun to read even though a bit annoying.

Thanks for all the help - It's appreciated! I'll update this post in case of a miracle.

God Bless
