Title: Plug and Play Bios (Fail Safe)
Post by: ImnoGuru on September 18, 2008, 10:44:19 PM
Hi Im just fiddling with a computer and wanted to put an LG CRD 8522B Cd Player in it.
Having some previous experience with CD Players recently, I thought it would be a piece of cake. But this Plug and Play Bios (Fail Safe) came up in the device manager with a yellow mark, and the computer doesnt see the CD Player.

This little computer has Win98SE, 32 meg ram (512), Intel Pentium Chip.
Ive tried a different cable reset the jumper on the CD to CS, Ive tried slave, so on.

So how can I fix this yellow mark in the control panel if I cant get the CD recognized?
I have 2 usb connections at the rear if thats any help?
Thank you.

Win98 needed drivers for most if not all Optical drives...
Did the drive ship with drivers ? ?

If not you may get lucky with some generic drivers...

Thanks Patio, Im building this unit for my son. Its an oldy thats just been sitting here for years, but you cant do much without a CD these days and this failsafe thing had me tricked. I have cd players sitting around (oldies 8 speed so on) to put in it.

I looked through lots of pages trying to find something that could fix it
I'll try that and see where I get thanks.
