Title: I can see other people's music files in Windows Media Player.
Post by: nowgoesquickly on September 28, 2008, 03:49:36 PM
My roommate and I share a wireless connection. Recently I've found that if I open Windows Media Player, a small icon will appear on the lefthand side of the screen which, if clicked, will open her music library on my computer. I can view and play all of her music files on my computer. (She's told me she can open my music files on her computer, too.)

This has also happened on my college campus. My roommate is trustworthy and wouldn't invade my privacy, but I don't like the idea that strangers can view my music files. Is there any way to safeguard my music (not to mention documents and other sensitive files) from being viewable on others' computers?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. :)

Hi!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I use Windows Vista, and Windows Media Player v. 11. (I think that's what you're asking, anyway...)
