Hi,
My Firefox and even IE keep encountering problems and have to be closed, I don't know whats causing this!! It keeps closing!!
Any help would be very nice, thankyou :)
-
What do you do on Firefox? Do you frequently go to Youtube (or similar sites) or play online games?
Are you doing anything specific when firefox reports the warning?
(doesn't have to be in Firefox, could be other programs loaded too)
-
Yes it happened on youtube many times aslo on myspace and other sites but never on CH, I don't play games (unless its ch games lol)
-

That's ok......for now.... :P
Anyways, I suspect your computer is trying to cope with a number of resource-intensive programs, cause firefox to crash (because can get pretty resource intensive).
My suggestion would be to start here:

even IE keep encountering problems
Internet explorer has the same problem for me!
-
Just joining in briefly.
512 RAM is IMO very borderline indeed ...... even if your paging file is generous.
YouTube and myspace type sites seem to be very heavy coding and are typical of examples I have noticed can bog me down too, on IE and FF. That said my RAM is quite generous but even so - I reckon the problems may only be greater if memory is not adequate and increase the chances of this happening.
Forum sites do overall seem very undemanding on resources.
Just noticed - Carbon has a point there re other resource-intensive progs.
-
So do I go for the steps given in the link?
Are all steps important?
-
Not all of them are important, but recommended.
They are pretty straight forward, and will definitely improve your computers performance if you have never done them before.
-
Is this on the new re-install Ivy ? ?
Were all drivers re-installed afterwards ?
-
Will Ccleaner delete my restore points?, it does that sometimes.
What does Erunt do?
Will Disk Defregmentar make any changes to my current computer settings etc?
just being careful (you already know what a terrible problem I've had with this comp) :)
-

No, but make sure you configure it the way I said in the guide.
What does Erunt do?
Creates a Registry Backup. Perfectly harmless.
Will Disk Defregmentar make any changes to my current computer settings etc?
Nope, perfectly safe. In fact, it is recommended you do this at least once a week.

Yes It is.

I don't know that, I just followed the steps you gave me.
I formatted my C and D drives(did a quick format for the D drive before installing windows)
-
Do you run Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time? Do you know what version of Firefox you are running?
-
No I don't, I'm using the latest firefox.
-
I'll wait for patio to read my reply , hope he reads it sooner , then I'll do all the steps.
-
Well, I do know two or three things about computers. :P Here is one I recently learned!
http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=33321.0 (http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=33321.0)
Follow the steps outlined in the first post. I use Firefox 3, and doing this reduced the amount of RAM Firefox 3 needs by half or better.
(My system was freezing a lot before I did this.)
I know what you mean, though -- I usually feel better when Patio has provided input to a thread. ;)

Ah yes, that may help too.
You're welcome Aegis ;)

You should have a Driver CD that shipped new with the machine...all your drivers will be on there.
If not post an Everest log and we'll help track them down.
-
Yes I do have a CD with users guide and drivers install file.
That one?
-
Yep that's the one...
Chipset drivers first followed by all others.
Re-boot after each install.
P.S. Make sure that CD is for that machine...you can check out the contents in Windows Explorer if need be...
-
This is my Everest log file .
Thankyou Patio!

OK...what does it say on the CD ? ?
-
When I use the CD, it takes me to this page in adobe reader and then shows the steps I need to take, I did that (strat->settings->control panel->display->settings->advanced->moniter->driver->update driver) First time it updated but didn't restart automatically.
Then I restarted and agin inserted the CD, it took me to the same place (I have given its screen shot), it were the same steps until last it said ''the software does not find a better match for your hardware then the software you have already installed'' (I have given its screen shot too).
Did I do something wrong?

Not exactly but somehow it went to the Windows update driver applet which it shouldn't do...
Follow the instructions in the PDF but when it asks for the location of the driver update point it to the CD/DVD appropiate folder...
Does the CD autorun if you start the machine with it in ? ?
If so choose that route and follow the prompts...
You don't want to use Windows Driver update as it's pretty weak and will most times only install generic Windows drivers...
-
After reformat I had used the mother board to install things in the computer, it would prompt me to restart after every installation, it installed Intel(R) Extreme graphic,Volume etc, I don't know much about Drivers etc, so I Pretty much am not understanding anything, I gave the logs thought that might give you a picture of whats in my comp!
I'm sorry Patio!!
-
No apology neccessary...it sounds like the driver CD walked you through it properly...
Just take a quick look in Device Manager and make sure no devices have a yellow ! or ? next to them...
You may have done a better job than you're giving yourself credit for... ;)
-
Everything in the device manager is fine, but my firefox still encounters problems, so now Patio what shall I do next, shall I do the updates Carbon mentioned first?
Thankyou for helping guys!!
-
Close Firefox. Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode). Same thing?
-
No Broni, If you read in the start I said firefox closes only on some sites, its weird , it never closes on CH!!
-
Did you try the above on THOSE sites?
-
gives a weak answer ''no'' , I'm about to :-[
-
I'll "weakly" wait :)
-
There's a song from shot gun by berlin but I won't mention it....
-
Shot gun??
-
You know, shot gun -- the device you want to use on your computer when it won't work the way it's supposed to work! ;)
-
Keep wondering, you guys will never know!!
Btw Broni, that thing worked, I'm in safe mode!!
Goooooooshhh Broni!!! (song....)
-
It means, some of your FF add-on is messing things up.
Disable all add-ons, and see, if FF works OK on THOSE sites.
If it does, you may start enabling ad-ons, one-by-one, until you find the culprit.
My vote goes for some toolbar (Google, Yahoo....).

Very smart both of you ,now you'll see how I take revenge!
Broni! I went to FF safe mode, there was the option 'disable all addons'' but here do I choose make changes and restart or 'continue in safe mode'?
-
Disable all add-ons, and restart in normal mode.
Go to troubled sites.
-

Its working now on those sites.
If it does, you may start enabling ad-ons, one-by-one, until you find the culprit.

How?
-
Ok I'm on it!
-
Okay, It was the AVG safe surf.
I have enabled it again, for safety reasons :)
-

Forget about that crappy add-on.
-
shall I disable it?
-
shall I disable it?
Might as well. If you don't think you will use it, you can uninstall it. :)
-
okay I Disabled the addon , it had slowed down the loading too.
thankyou everyone who helped here :)
-
Is your FF working OK now?
-
Yes, perfect!
Thankyou Broni :)
