Title: problems possibly with my cd rom drive
Post by: mikeakd on March 23, 2005, 12:05:13 PM
I'm trying to install Ready To Program and it ALWAYS stops at 27 percent when i run the setup and says "Extraction failure: return from extract=-9".  Can someone possibly tell me why this is happening?  Thanks.

What do the support people at "Ready to Program" tell you?  It sounds like you have a slightly corrupt file there or are not running the minimum specs computer, but I am sure they would know more.

Do you have enough hard disk space? What are you using to extract the file? What exactly does tis program do, and Which operating system do you have?

I double click the set up and it starts by itself (I've installed it on another computer like this), I have Windows XP, and I have well over 50 GB available on my Hard Drive.

Their website indicates a nice little technical support phone number.....

What type of disk is this that you are installing from?  CD or Floppy?
Does your computer have enough free space?
Are your temp directories (notice this is plural) empty?
What OS are you installing to?
What SP level of the OS?

They couldn't help me at technical support, it's from a cd, my computer has enough free space, my temp directories aren't full, don't know what that means, don't know what that means.
