Title: Can I back up my unfinished torrents?
Post by: Joshuashaw on November 01, 2008, 09:51:22 AM
Due to a error with my XP system, check Windows sub forum for my error I'm going to use Dell's PC Restore. I'm going to back up all my files (images, audio & video) to my Maxtor Basics 500GB external hard-drive. Is there any way I can back up my unfinished torrents from BitTorrent? I know I can cut & paste the actual files, but this way I'd be left with unfinished files and I'd wouldn't have a hope in *censored* of looking through the net for the original torrents. Currently scouting through forums seeing if  I can find anything if anyone can shed more light? I'd be much apprecitive.

the torrent files are still wherever you downloaded them to- likely "my documents".

Just copy the .torrent file and the unfinished file.

*I wonder what is being downloaded.... ::)*

What error is this, may I ask? Anything we can help with?

I understand that, but if I just cut & paste the file to the external hard drive, I only get the unfinished file. I don't get any info of where I'd continue the torrent once my system is rebooted using Dell Restore.

Carbondudeoxide, what is the .torrent file? Is this the file I'd save to my PC and then open through BitTorrent, the thing is I don't save them, I just open. Could this be my answer? :-[

& this is the link to the other thread regarding system issue.

I was also referring to the .TORRENT files, which if you simply select "open" were likely downloaded into your temporary folder.

Oh okay, my apologies for misunderstanding you.

Unfort, whilst I was trying to get my head around my system problem I tried things like disk frag and disk clean up this mean my files will be gone and have to be downloaded again?

... the torrent files are in your temporary folder, and likely were not deleted.

Wether their names reflect their "contents" is another matter.
