Post by: drunknmunky_uk on November 03, 2008, 05:11:36 PM
Everytime I go to play a song or watch a film on my laptop the sound keeps going jittery and the video playback jumps a little. Also as the laptop starts up when it makes the windows "turning on" sound it does it then too. My laptop is taking ages to start up too.

My Laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-FS515E
running on windows xp if thats any help?

Im clueless what to do please can someone help?

Thank you David

Yes.
Try VLC Player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/, and see, if same thing happens.
The reason behind trying VLC is, that it has all necessary codecs built in.

Your computer is infected with Emcodec Trojan, PWS-Puper.dr (O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Uninstall] C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmuninst.exe /DeleteSelf), and maybe more.

Yes, because you messed things up.
When you posted HJT log here, this entry:
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Uninstall] C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmuninst.exe /DeleteSelf
was present.
I exchanged PMs with evilfantasy, and apparently, when you posted your logs at malware section, the above entry was gone.
Did you remove it?
If so, were you asked to remove anything?
