Title: What is my HDD motherboard size limit?

Just wondering... I tried installing a ten gigabyte hard drive, and for some reason it detected it as about 8.x gigabytes in the bios. The computer is a M55Hi-Plus from about 1996, and had a 1GB HDD when I got it. What do you predict the hard drive limit is? From research, I've determined it's about 8GB. Is this about right do you think? It's by Micronics, which went out of business or something a wile ago so I cannot contact them.

P.S., the BIOS is by phoenix, version 4.05.
P.P.S., I'm not a caveman, it's for a science project. ;)
P.P.P.S., Windows XP Pro SP2 is OS to be installed, so not an OS limitation.

Try updating the BIOS. Back then few BIOS could read past 8 GIgs. Let us know the out come.

Maybe you should find a copy of Windows 3.11 to be authentic.
If you upgrade the BIOS, it will lose its historical value. :'(
