Title: Big Problems....I think???
Post by: kjames on December 01, 2008, 08:09:00 PM
I'm back, for a second time, this time however seems a bit more tricky!! I cannot produce the needed logs... Super anti and MBAM will NOT run even after reinstall, however i did get a hijack log (below)... also i keep getting a pop-up that resembles windows defender asking me to allow access of keep blocking... and IE is not searching correctly, all my searches are opening in a new window with results from info.com, i think... here's the log...

as always thanks for any help!! and let me what else i need to do...thanks

Please print these instructions as they will be needed later when Internet access is not available.

Download SDFix by AndyManchesta and save it to your desktop. http://rapidshare.com/files/168677949/SDFix.exe.html

When using this tool, you must use the Administrator's account or an account with Administrative rights
.Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html) using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Open the SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.

See if you can update malwarebytes and run a scan with it again. Post the log when it's finished please.

Uninstall it and download a new copy.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe)

Extra Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

ATF Cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) by Atribune to your Desktop.

Alternate download link (http://majorgeeks.com/ATF_Cleaner_d4949.html)

Note: Vista users must use Run As Administrator (http://vistasupport.mvps.org/run_as_administrator.htm)
Note that your system will run slower for a reboot or two after having used this tool so don't panic.

----------

Download OTCleanIt.exe (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/oldtimer/OTCleanIt.exe) and save it to your Desktop.
Important: Restart the computer before continuing.

----------

Use the  Secunia Software Inspector (http://secunia.com/software_inspector) to check for out of date software.
Click Start Now
Check the box next to Enable thorough system inspection.
Click Start
Allow the scan to finish and scroll down to see if any updates are needed.
Update anything listed.

----------

Go to Microsoft Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) and get all critical security updates. (you will need to use Internet Explorer to do this)

----------

SpywareBlaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) - Secure your Internet Explorer to make it harder for these ActiveX programs to run on your computer. Also stop certain cookies from being added to your computer when running Mozilla based browsers like Firefox.
*  (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial49.html)Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial49.html)

To prevent unknown applications from being installed on your computer install WinPatrol 2008 (http://www.winpatrol.com/winpatrol.html)
*  Using Winpatrol to protect your computer from malicious software (http://www.winpatrol.com/features.html)

I would suggest using SiteAdvisor (http://www.siteadvisor.com/). SiteAdvisor rates sites on business practices and Spam. Safety ratings from McAfee SiteAdvisor are based on automated safety tests of Web sites.

Learn more about how to protect yourself while on the Internet from the following link. So how did I get infected in the first place? (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=279) by Tony Klien.

McAfee is as good as anything else as long as you are wise about what you do on the internet.
