>:( I want to uninstall AVG Free.
Add/remove doesn't work. Get an error message; uninstall fails.
Revo isn't compatible with Windows ME.
AVG forums tell me my e-mail is already in use;use another address. (don't have one); won't let me sign in.
I've asked around & am told to try to install newer version of AVG, then instead of installing, choose uninstall. Will it work? How long does the install process take--hopefully not a couple hours?
Help ! AVG is slowing up my pc terribly. Doesn't work with ME at all anymore.

Have you tried start>programs>avg>avg uninstaller?
-
what version of AVG do you have?
http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=avg has older versions
I'd try just running the installer and then having the installer UNINSTALL the program. I know it's been suggested already .... it worked for my system, but my system is not the same as your system so I don't know if it'll work for you .... only test is to give it a shot. At worst, AVG won't be uninstalled but nothing else should be affected.
I don't know if AVAST will support windows ME. But it does support windows 2000 and window ME seems to just be a "home" version of windows 2000 essentially.

What AVG version are you trying to uninstall?
-
and safe mode doesn't do any good either? you tried that? I've gotten some stuff uninstallable in normal mode to uninstall okay in safe mode oddly.

A friend of mine had a problem like that. we had to re install windows.

:) Thanks for advice, everyone. I have 7.5 AVG Free, if that's any help.

I'm sorry, but what kind of advice is it?

Download AVG 7.5 again: http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/4029/
Install it over the top of existing AVG, and then try to uninstall it again.

Last time I did somethiing like that, the AVG installer directly asked about uninstalling from system so just following instructions and it should be good. Otherwise there's something fishy that needs to be taken care of.
