Title: Old Computer (need a lot of help)
Post by: LX0 on December 14, 2008, 03:49:09 PM
I got my old computer. It's an old Dell with Windows 98. I can't change the settings on it. The resolution is huge. When I try to change the colors or resolution the Ok button is off the screen. I press enter instead but then it says it has to restart. After it restarts, nothing changes! It doesn't change in safe mode either. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it or anything I can do to make it run better? Thanks.

Well, if you have the original disk, you could reload it. Most of today's periphials won't run with Win 98. If you could get a copy of Windows 2000 Pro and load it, it might work. It is very similar to XP only without all the extra graphics, and it can get by on about the same RAM as Win 98. But as old as the computer is, it may be ready for the boneyard pretty soon.

It looks like you need to reinstall video driver.
