Title: What computer books do you own?
Post by: BC_Programmer on December 25, 2008, 11:48:59 PM
Some of us might have too big a collection to list- but I have some unique titles myself:
Obviously I've limited it to computer books for obvious reasons. No reason to list my two sets of Encyclopedias and Yearbooks...

"Secrets of the Visual Basic For Windows Masters"
"Microsoft Windows And MS-DOS 6.22"
"Microsoft Windows" (GIANT manual)
"IBM PC-DOS and Microsoft Windows"
"Thinkpad 755 CD/CDV user guide"
"Mixed Language Programming"

All three Visual Basic 2.0 manuals- Language Reference, Programmers Guide, and Professional Features

Canadian Internet Handbook (this ones funny, from 1994)

"Applied Structured BASIC" 1982 college text
"A Guide to programming in Turbo Pascal"
"Computer Programming in BASIC the easy way"
"Upgrading and Fixing PCs for Dummies"
"Upgrading and Fixing PCs for Dummies 15th Edition"
"Windows 95 Power Toolkit"
"Turbo Pascal 5.5 Programmers Guide"
"Pure Visual Basic"
"Running MS-DOS" (looks like the first edition- discusses version 3.22)
"The Macintosh Bible" REALLY old...
"Fractal Creations 18th edition"
"Windows 3.1 Secrets"
"Fix your own PC"

hmm, I thought I had more books. Oh well.

That's all of them, I believe (not including manuals/guides).  As you can see, most of these are for school.  And I have had to completely read every single one of these books...

I don't have any computer books at all.
With our family's first computer, in 1996, we got "Windows 95 for Dummies" and I think we may have received 98 for dummies with our second PC in '99, but I can't really remember.
Anyway, we now have neither of those, so the only computer related books in the house are hardware/software manuals, l;eaflets etc that came with products.

But- sometimes it's just good to curl up next to a warm fire and read about SQL query construction...
