I just installed a new cpu cooler to replace my stock intel one that wasn't working properly.
Now for some reason COD4 gets the BSOD when i try to run it, i reinstalled it to no avail.
I have no idea what's causing this so any help would be great.

please tell us what the blue screen says
-
Did COD4 work before you installed the new cooler?
The new cooler might not be powerful enough to keep your PC from overheating.
I am not saying that your computer is overheating, that might be a problem tho.

he is using windows xp if you look under his name

It's not overheating i know that.
The screen has the usuall- if this is the first time you've seen this message....
Check any hardware or software...
Then the error code is 0x00000050

that doesn't help at all. Does it say anything about CoD? no.
it's a generic memory error though, which might point to your RAM.

wait i missed the after installing sp1 part
-
I got it fixed
-
glad you got it fixed! what did you do? just curios

I uninstalled all the nvidia drivers and ran a program called driver sweeper. After that i downloaded the graphics driver from asus.
After that i tried running COD4 and now it gets an error saying directx encountered an unrecoverable error and i tried reinstalling it to no avail.

I fixed the next problem i had.
