Title: Erased hard drive noe not reading driver
Post by: plumbette on January 06, 2009, 11:18:12 AM
I just finished erasing my hard drive from reference number CH000186. Now when I try starting the computer it has a message "not ready reading driver E Abort retry fail?". I haven't tried doing any of this type of thing before and I'm at a loss. My son tried installing XP over ME on our old basement computer and I don't know if it is trashed or what. I've tried rebooting with start up disks and many other things with no luck. I thought maybe if I erased the hard drive it would work. Am I just wasting my time or is there a solution? Thanks!

You have to install operating system on erased hard drive. Right now, the hard drive is empty.
You need to boot from Windows CD, and follow on-screen instructions.

Thank you for your reply. I think I finally got the CD to install it has 27 more minutes to go. Been busy and today was the first time I had time to  try it.  Hope it works so I don't have to buy a new one. Works not that great right now!
Thanks again!
