Title: Touch pad on laptop stopped scrolling
Post by: jimpl on January 06, 2009, 07:35:55 PM
It just quit scrolling. I can't find the place to fix it. I go:
    start/control panel/mouse/device settings
all there is is buttons settings. I used to get a picture of the pad and adjustments for the edges.

  Vista business
  Toshiba laptop x305 q705

I just found @ start/control panel/mouse
it identifies as standard pointing device instead of synaptics touchpad.

I went to Toshiba support site and looked at the drivers listed. there was one named "alps touchpad 27773a".
I downloaded and installed that and now the scroll works!
I don't know why. I'm pretty sure I have the Synaptics touchpad.

Sounds like the driver was removed or was damaged somehow.

Problem gone?

It seems to work fine!
When I run my autocad, it even scrolls side to side!

My touchpad just switched itself back to "standard pointing device" and does not scroll anymore.
How can it change like that by itself?  I fixed it before by downloading a driver for ALPS touch pad. I shouldn't have to just keep downloading drivers!

OK I rolled back the driver and now it works again. Now it says it's an alps pointer again!
