Title: Word 2007 and margins

Hi

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get characters in the MARGINS of a Word 2007 document. I am running Vista Ultimate. Have tried Word Help to no avail. I ahve been asked to create a document with letters & symbols in the margin. help?
