I have a medion 500G hard drive. I use windows Vista Home edition. When I start up my PC at times the HD is not found. At other times I get a message saying that Files are missing or corrupted and I cannot access the drive. If I format the drive it works for some time and then the fault reoccurs. What can I do to rectify the problem. Obviiously the HD is not much use if I have to format it every couple of weeks.
Many thanks for any help you can offer.

Medion makes laptops and desktops...but not hard drives.
To find out what type of drive this is DLoad and run Everest Home (FREE)
This will tell you what all components are in that machine.
Once it's determined what manuf. the drive is travel to their site and DLoad and run the FREE diagnostics on that drive...
As it is a 500G it's probably not that old and may still be under warranty...
Good Luck and let us know...

Did you run the diagnostic test...the long one ? ?
This will tell you if that drive is failing and whether it can be trusted with data...

I have run the seagate tests but some of the tests came up as unavailable. The tests which did run all passed
